I have just completed treatment....

Hi there my name is Lauren. I have just completed 6 months treatment here. I came to Somewhere House as an emergency client. I was scared and very vulnerable, I was welcomed by the staff and clients and could just tell this was a very caring supportive place. It didn't take me long to settle in and feel at home.. there is a family atmosphere here and I felt apart of something for once in my life. I had no confidence or self worth. When I walked through the doors I realised I was carrying a lot of trauma but with the groups and one to ones I received soon started feeling a change in myself and the way I was thinking. It has been an emotional rollercoaster for me and getting in touch with my feelings and learning how to be open and honest has really benefited me and my recovery, working through my trauma's and the trauma I had caused to others was a difficult process but there was all ways someone there to listen to me and support me. Just being in a house with with people who have similar backgrounds as me made me feel that I wasn't alone and made me more open to speak about my past in a group environment. The staff are a lovely bunch of people who are very passionate about recovery and will do anything in there power to guide you in the right way. I am extremely grateful to be part of this special place, I feel like a different person. I have been able to understand my behaviours and see why I had stayed in addiction so long. I am no longer riddled with shame and am able to move forward in my life with a much clearer mindset, the tools I have learnt here are that I have a choice and every choice I make from now on will be for the better. I have also learnt that I am only human and we all make mistakes but I can use this as a learning process and not failure. I feel now I am in a much stronger place physically and mentally and look forward to what my future holds. With hard work and determination I know I can achieve my goals, I couldn't of done this without the support of Somewhere House and I will be forever grateful.
