Living in the Move On Community...

I have been a client of Somewhere House for the last 12 months. During this time I have been given the opportunity to live in the Move On Community. The opportunity was offered to me at the end of my treatment in Somewhere House back in April 2019. At the time I was struggling with the thought of returning to Watford and I was delighted to be offered a place in the local community. It meant I could concentrate on my recovery, knowing that I would have 24/7 support and a network of people who I could relate and grow during my early recovery. I can honestly say, how paramount it was to feel supported, empowered during those early months after my treatment.

Being in a residential rehabilitation centre is probably one of the hardest things I have done in all my life. Somewhere House has supported me every step of the way, that is what they do. Their person-centred approach towards me, helped me overcome many obstacles and tribulations. Somewhere House saved my life.

Somewhere House offers something that no other rehabilitation centre can offer. Not only do they look after you whilst in treatment, but they make sure you have the best shot when you complete treatment and start a new life in sobriety.

This is when the Move On Community comes into place. This opportunity has given me the freedom to explore and evaluate many aspects of my life. It provides me with a safe place, a haven that allowed me to work on my mental health and issues that led me to addiction. The Move On Community gave me a space where mistakes could be made, as long as lessons could have and can be learned. The Move On Community is inclusive regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation and religion beliefs.

I have the privilege to meet new people, forge new friendships. I have been given the ability to do things differently and to be curious about my actions and behaviours, knowing that I have their support 24/7.

Somewhere House, thank you. I am truly grateful for all you have given me.
