Preparation for Treatment

One of the things that is so important before entering into residential treatment is to be properly prepared. Going into treatment is daunting and good sound preparation - attending groups at your local service is an invaluable tool so that when admission day comes, the client has some idea of what to expect and therefore upon arrival, not feel too overwhelmed. Not being properly prepared for treatment can result in a vulnerable adult feeling ill prepared, anxious and this can result in an early exit from treatment.

One of our staff, this week attended a 'prehab' group at one of our providers. The team were welcoming, the group peer led and the whole experience beneficial. It was lovely to be a part of. It consisted of a question and answer about what it's really like going into treatment, the rules, boundaries and what to expect. Those who attended were positive in their feedback.
