Internal Supervisor in Recovery
Recovery is not just about staying clean or sober. It is about learning to guide, challenge and care for ourselves differently. Developing an internal supervisor means building a voice inside that helps us pause, reflect and make healthier choices rather than reacting on impulse or emotion. Addiction often silences self-awareness and replaces it with chaos, shame or avoidance. In recovery, we begin to notice our triggers, behaviours and patterns with honesty and compassion. An internal supervisor helps us stay accountable, recognise when we are struggling and ask for support before things spiral. It becomes a steady, grounding voice that protects our growth, wellbeing and long-term recovery journey
